MerMay 2021 Bonus Art

What´s up, bros!

And so, with this fan art of Ariel from Disney´s Little Mermaid in her iconic pose from the movie, I officially declare the end of MerMay 2021! Thank you to everyone who watched me on my social media during the MerMay challenge, it was a wonderful experience working on a theme that I usually don´t use to work with and I thank you for following and hit the Like button in my arts.

And now, here are my thoughts about the MerMay challenge:

The first question is: Will I participate in the MerMay challenge again next year? Well, yeah, but, I will not do it the same way as I did this year, And I mean that I´m not going to use the prompt list from the official website again.

You see, doing this art challenge was fun, but making mermaids every day during the whole month gets boring very fast. It's not like Inktober that every day there is a different theme and you make the art depending on how you interpret it. Not only that but, someone like me who has a full-time job, took me a lot of time to work on my stuff. I got arts and fan arts that I really want to make and this challenge really took me a lot of time for my artwork. And don´t ask me about the comics/manga that I want to do.

But, despite this, I'm glad that I participate in this art challenge. One of the things that I achieve as an artist that MerMay helped me to get more confidence in making arts, especially the digital colors. It helped me to stop worrying and overthinking too much about how the art should be (the results) and just go, do the art, and enjoy the moment.

Another thing that MerMay helped me with is that it was a great chance to try out new digital art techniques that I learn from an art course website called Domestika. For those who don't know, Domestika.org is an art course website like Skillshare, but mostly for the native Spanish/Portuguese native speakers. Of course, there are courses in English, speaking or subtitled, and it's a great website to learn arts, marketing, video editing, and other things that I don't remember right now. (By the way, I'm not sponsoring this website, so I think I'm doing this for free).

And lastly, this challenge helped me to learn how to manage my time on my projects wisely, to take every hour to keep working, and not leave everything for tomorrow.

Well, these are my thoughts about MerMay. Once again, thank you so much for following me in MerMay, and see you next year. And as always, let's make something awesome!
